Don't you just love it when you find somewhere new and it completely takes you by surprise ? Well that is what happened when I took a visit to Scraptoft Hill Farm in East Leicestershire. I was shown around by the owner, Nelson, who took great delight in telling me how they had sewn bluebells in the field where the marquee was positioned, when his daughter had her wedding reception there; because she loves bluebells. I think this captures the essence of what this venue is about. They are a very laid-back, eco-friendly venue and seem quite content to let you do what you want ( within reason of course! ).
I was struck with how peaceful it was. Not far from a residential area, yet you felt like you were in the middle of nowhere, with the most stunning views of Leicestershire when walking down the country lane.
We took a walk in the woodlands and then appeared what I had come to see - the ceremony area. It was not what I was expecting. The area had wooden benches already laid out with a natural aisle for a couple to walk down and enough space to accommodate a large wedding party quite comfortably. I cannot wait to conduct my 1st ceremony there, which I know the couple are very excited about !
Here are a few photos that Nelson kindly let me have to share with you .....
